Mixed bag

The black aniseed balls were a mixed bag, literally. The sizes vary from pea sized to marble size, no big deal really, but unfortunately the strength of flavour varies just as much, from some being just sweet, to others being very strong aniseed indeed, very enjoyable.
They are not a 4, but better than a 3, so 3.5 would be the score on taste/flavour.
I'm a little mystified as to how flavour could vary so much in a mixture, unless the mixing process is inadequate in time or process, or there are inconsistencies between batches, and batches are mingled.

The aniseed is grown from a single grain of sugar, that started back in 2013. They will vary as the smaller ones are generally 'broken' off bits that dont have as many layers of sugar syrup and aniseed oil and hence not as much flavour. There are thousands of layers that go in to making each and every aniseeed ball
